A member asked:

Why does hypernatremia occur in patients with diabetes insipidus?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dehydration: If you have diabetes insipidus and don't take in enough water to balance what you urinate out, hypernatremia can result. Ddavp (desmopressin) can usually return your life to normal. Talk w/your doctor.
