Contact: A contact allergy could result in itching initially without any visible rash. Diagnostic testing would includ a patch test to determine an etiology. This requires 2 visits 48-72 hours apart without wetting the back. The symptoms can be controlled with topical and oral antihistamines. You can temporarily suppress symptoms with a non sedating antihistamine - zyrtecor allegra (fexofenadine).
