See Dr.: These are commonly caused by the hsv-1 (virus). See a dr. For an exam and testing for the hsv-1 titer. There are some anti-viral meds that can help. Good luck. (if only one sore, you can try placing a Tums (calcium carbonate) on the ulcer and holding it there, sometimes, this can relieve the pain and make the ulceration go away quicker).
