Diverticulitis?: Typically pain in the left lower quadrant of the abdomen is suspicious for either ovarian problems or diverticulitis. Both of these really need to be seen and checked....See your doctor to get a better diagnosis and treatment.

Various: Consider diverticulosis/diverticulitis (will need antibiotics), hernia, constipation, bowel obstruction. It also depends on how long it lasts and the quality of the pain. May be limited and nothing to be concerned about.

Many possibilities: There are so many different diseases that cause abdominal pain that it would be impossible to speculate on the cause of yours with such limited information. Any abdominal pain that is persistent, recurrent, or severe warrants medical evaluation, at the very least, by your primary care physician, or, by an er physician, if severe. Sorry i couldn't help more.

Great ? =many things: Lower abdominal pain could be from appendicitis, hernias, urinary tract infections, inflammation of the colon, bladder infections, tumors, etc. You should consult your physician for proper diagnosis. Abdominal pain can be caused by a large number of things and diagnosis is dependent on your history and specific symptoms.

A 23-year-old male asked:
I have some lower stomach pain. Just wondering what examination the doctor may do ?

Thorough Medicine: The doctor will examine you thoroughly if that is indicated. Sometimes from the story of the symptoms an examination is not as important. But, i would doubt that anyone here online would second guess what you need when you present to the doctor's office.

See answer: All women experience pain in lower abdomen from time to time. There are many causes of lower abdominal pain ranging from transient and not serious (bowel or menstrual cramps, constipation, ovulation, small ovarian cyst) to more serious and emergent (ectopic pregnancy, appendicitis, kidney stone, pelvic inflammatory disease). If pain worsens, persists, or associated with fever, call md or go to er.
