Isotretinoin: This is a useful medicine, but has a long list of potential side effects including back pain, headaches and birth defects if a person becomes pregnant while taking the medication (ok to become pregnant off the medicine). This medication needs to be closely monitored by a physician with monthly lab tests. Works great for a lot of patients and can take away severe acne for years!
