Does having a thyroid condition interfere with getting lasik eye surgery?

Possibly: If you have graves diseae (hyperthyroid with eye protrusion) then that should be addressed first. That is because dryness can result from this and lasik can induce dryness. If the only problem is hyper or hypo thyroid, then lasik is probably not a problem.

It depends: If your thyroid disease is under good control and you do not have eye changes associated with it, lasik can probably be done. It is important to make sure your corneas are healthy and not dry; and to make sure your eyelids fully close so that your corneas are not exposed. Find an experienced lasik surgeon to do the pre-op assessment.
