Need an evaluation: (assuming a women is asking) rarely, hirsutism (excessive hair growth) can be due to a tumor in an ovary or adrenal gland, so this needs to be checked out. Most often, though, it's a matter of hair follicles being over-sensitive to normal amounts of testosterone. In that case, there are some medications that can be tried, or physical treatment (waxing, shaving, bleaching, laser) can be used.
