No, not a "trick": Sometimes it can be hard to distinguish between symptoms indicating withdrawal from medications, and those of the original complaint. If you're tapering medications & your symptoms are worse now than before the medications, it's possible that both situations are happening. Your doctor will work with you towards relief form your symptoms, and more lasting treatment of baseline issues.
