Depends on size: Montelukast, called singulair (montelukast) and now available as generic medicine, starts at 4 mg of granules for youngsters 1 year old and up. At about 3 years we go to the chewable 4 mg tablet. At about 7 or 8, kids often go to the 5 mg chewable and teens and adults go to the 10 mg tablet. Your doctor can check the dose for you based on the child's weight.
