You could but is : The insomnia related to pain? Hx of insomnia? It may be the anxiety of upcoming surgery creating nightime hyperarousal. Doctors are different on sleep meds. Some see them as a problem, i see them as an important part of psychiatric care.. Throbbing not a problem, severe pain problem, if pain causing insomnia, ask for pain med, if pure insomnia, your doc may call in ambien (zolpidem).Ask for it specifically.
