Time: This sounds like telogen effluvium, a sudden loss of scalp hair starting about 2-3 months after delivery, or after another significant physiologic stress such as surgery. The hair loss will continue for about 6 months, after which the hair will grow back. Occasionally it is slightly curlier when it first starts regrowing. Taking a b vitamin called biotin, 3 mg daily, might help speed regrowth.
