Depends: Many podiatrists do ankle arthroscopy. Either they were trained in their surgical residency, or they can take a course and become certified. It also depends on the hospital that they do surgeries with--certain hospitals will not let podiatrists do ankle scopes for whatever reason. I do them at a surgery center. It's a very useful procedure for many ankle pathologies.

Ankle arthroscopy: Some podiatrists are trained in arthroscopy but you need to do due diligence and confirm their training. Your other option is an orthopedic surgeon trained in ankle arthroscopy.

Depends : Podiatric practice in certain states does not include treatment of conditions above the transmalleolar line (eg the ankle). Some podiatric ttraining programs do not teach the procedure and doc has to do a hindfoot ankle fellowship to gain the necessary proficency to do so. So it goes state by state and podiatrist by podiatrist. Orthopedic foot specialist (md)are all trained to do ankle arthroscopy.

Podiatry Training: Great question and of course i get that all the time. In short, the podiatrists and orthopedic surgeons who are trained to perform this procedure know that you have either had extra training for this unique surgery or not. It's that simple and the hospitals, surgery centers and seasoned veteran doctors in your area know who is proficient and who is not. Do your homework, get a second opinion.

Ankle: It depends on the doctor. Speak to your podiatrist - if he/she does not , then you can be referred to one that does.

Many podiatrists....: Are highly trained in ankle arthroscopy, others, not at all. Just ask your podiatrist. If they don't preform that service, odds are that they know someone who does.
