Probably: A meta-analysis looking at 8 studies looking at garlic and hypertension showed that 3-4 studies showed reduction in blood pressure. However there were flaws in methodology and there needs to be more studies before recommending this routinely. Probably safe to try it and see if it works for you.Fyi, if you are overweight, any attempt and successful weight loss will reduce blood pressure. Good luck!

Garlic: Per http://www.Mayoclinic.Org/medical-edge-newspaper-2010/mar-12b.Html , there is evidence that garlic may lower lipid levels, “relax smooth muscles ; dilate blood vessels”. 1 study showed that intake of 200 to 400 mg of garlic extract 3 x/day “can lower blood pressure modestly.” garlic is not considered monotherapy for hypertention.
