Symptom control: Dementia from cirrhosis is actually called hepatic encephalopathy (build up of toxins like ammonia in the brain), with the common theme resulting in confusion. Hepatic encephalopathy can be controlled with certain medications, so i would recommend you see a liver specialist to discuss these options. Once hepatic encephalopathy occurs, liver transplantat discussion should occur with your doctor.
