Anatomy&function: Basically there are different tests performed to evaluate the anatomy of the reproductive systems both for the male and female- as well as to check the function/physiology of the reproductive systems on both sexes. They would check the hormone levels, they would check whether there is any anatomical problems that prevent the sperm to fertilize the eggs perhaps some obstruction/scar tissue etc.

You could do aN: Ovulation predictor kit to see if you are ovulating. Each step has a function. There is also lab work to check thyroid, among other things. Good luck.

Just a few more: A typical work up will also include evaluation of ovarian reserve or ageing (day 3 fsh level or amh level) and evaluation of ovulation (often a Progesterone level a week before the period). Other tests which are done less commonly are the post coital test and laparoscopy.
