Had abdominal ultrasound and report saysy "right kidney is smaller than normal, 8.8cm" is this a cause for concern?does it put me at risk for anything

Depends on cause: The small kidney can be hypoplastic(just the way you were made), scarred from recurrent infection, shrunken from lack of blood flow, or injured from previous trauma. Complications depend on the cause but the most common complication is nothing will happen, hypertension could develop and protein in e may develop. It is important to ensure nothing happens to the good kidney. No nsaids. Good bp.

Unlikely: The right kidney is often smaller than the left. If the ultrasound shows areas of focal volume loss this can be the result of prior infection or urine reflux from the bladder. In any event, if your blood tests show normal overall renal function there is rarely need for concern.
