It can and its easy: When performed by an experienced acupuncturist with managing the type of pain that u r having, acupuncture can b very effective at relieving pain of many sorts. The experience of getting acupuncture is amazingly easy. Most people's anticipation is far worse than the actual experience. If u have ever had a therapeutic massage then u will b fine getting acupuncture. Sometimes herbal supps r used.

Needling points: I agree with dr. Levitt except i wouldn't use the word worse in the same sentence with the word acupuncture. My patients seldomly feel needle insertions except possibly for feeling chi with insertions into actual acupuncture points. If you find a gentle needler it will most likely be an enjoyable experience. It does help with many types of pain.
