Will docs give me anything besides novocain, (procaine) like something to make me relax more?

Ativan (lorazepam): This is simple and works well. Take a low dose 30 minutes before an appointment. Other items are available that are much more complex.

Novocain (procaine): We don't use novocain (procaine) in the usa. It isn't advisable to take anxiolytics before your surgery, if you aren't a chronic user. It raises issues of impairment and inability to consent to a procedure. Request intravenous sedation with your procedure. If they are not skilled with IV sedation, then ask for nitrous oxide.
