Moisturise: Eczema is a dry / itchy skin condition caused by impaired barrier function rendering the skin more sensitive. The mainstay of treatment is regular daily emollient / moisturiser to nourish the skin and improve its barrier function. Moisturise the whole body. Intermittent targeted use of corticosteroid ointment can be used for flare ups. Caution with soaps. www.dermnetnz.org/topics/atopic-eczema/
