If you are taking accutane and you're allergic to it, when do you start seeing symptoms?

It varies but: Some people see redness and/or itching-burning on the fce within 5-7 days of using it. If any skin irritation develops stop using it and contact your doctor.

Variable: I've only seen allergy to it occur twice. In both cases, my patients developed hives, which were easily controlled with antihistamines. They both wanted to stay on accutane, so i had them consult an allergist, and in both cases we were able to successfully keep the patient on Accutane along with zyrtec (cetirizine). Their acne resolved and the hives when away a month after stopping the accutane.
