A member asked:

If a 90 yr old was taken off of coumadin (warfarin) 5 weeks ago and then had a heart attack, could that cause blockage in the heart that caused heart attack?

MI: At age 90 can't blame a heart attack simply on any cause. Withdrawal of warfarin is a possible contributor to a heart attack.

Hard to say: There is no data that Coumadin (warfarin) will prevent a heart attack, and at 90 there are so many reasons you could have a heart attack, it is impossible to pick just one cause.
