Too much sport: Vigorous sports properly done are excellent for the healthy heart. It is possible to do too much of almost anything, so get professional advice for any sport you are very actively pursuing.

?? Too much: When you say 'too much' what do you mean? Generally for heart health brisk exercise for 45 minutes a day 5 to 7 days a week is sufficient. Extremely high intensity exercise for longer periods can cause enlargement of the heart especially on the right side. If you do engage in extreme sports please be sure to see your doctor annually.

Sport and the heart: Sports are great for keeping the heart healthy, providing you don’t already have some sort of heart disease. If you do have heart disease, or symptoms of such, or if you’re just not sure and want to be safe, it would be best to have a Cardiologist clear you for a given sport or level of physical activity.
