No Best Treatment: Sciatica has many causes. Generally if you are not experiencing muscle weakness or change in bowel or bladder function, it will subside on its own within 6 months.Local measures such as ice, pt treatments such as muscle stim and massage may help. Nsaid's like Ibuprofen or Aleve (naproxen) may provide relief. Stronger meds like muscle relaxants or snri's also may be helpful.

Injections: First of all the definition of true sciatic pain is low back pain that radiates down the back of your leg, usually all the way down to your lower leg/foot. Pain in the buttocks is not sciatica. Sciatica is an irritation of one or more of the nerve roots in the lumbar spine. Depending on severity and duration of symptoms, physical therapy, meds and/or injections may help.
