A member asked:

Why does certain skipped heart beats (pvc's) take your breath away for a split second sometimes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PVCs: The pause after an early beat lets the heart fill more for the next beat and this bigger beat is what you generally feel strongly. It sometimes causes folks to catch their next inhalation. There is no direct connection with the extrasystole that forces the breath to be delayed.
