What is the definition or description of: vaginal bleeding during pregnancy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bleeding: In the first trimester it can be evidence of increased risk of miscarriage. 50% of women who bleed in the first trimester will miscarry. Later in pregnancy it is usually evidence of cervical dilation or labor. It can also indicate a serious condition, so women with pregnancies beyond 24 weeks should be evaluated urgently if having any heavy bleeding (more than spotting).
