This means: That there is a wide range in size of your rbcs - from small to big. The most common reason is iron deficiency, but if that is the only thing "off" on your CBC then no additional concern or testing.

CBC.: Rdw-cv measures the variability of red cell size. It is useful in finding the cause of anemia, or detecting early deficiencies of iron, B12 or folic acid. Rdw can be effected by alcohol, medications, chronic health conditions, so is not helpful by itself. It has to be viewed in the context of the rest of the CBC (complete blood count) and your health history.
