It depends: As dr. Ali pointed out, the maximum dose of citaloopram is 40 mg. A fair trial at a given dose is 6 weeks which is about what you've had. If you're on 40 mg already, you and the doc need to talk about either a switch to a different kind of antidepressant or maybe adding something. If you've been on less than 40 mg, then you should talk to him/her about a dose increase before giving up.
