Several causes: Some meds, both prescription and otc, are capable of impairing kidney function and elevating the creatinine level. Ask your provider if that could be a factor for you. Have repeated urinary infections been a problem? Assuming it's not caused by a medicine or infections, it's likely to be a vascular problem within the kidney. Controlling blood pressure and cholesterol aggressively are paramount.
