Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period. If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

Not likely it was bc: With no missed pills, "perfect use", the failure rate is 0.3%=>99% effective. In typical use, because taking a pill every d without ever missing is hard, about 9/100 couples will get pregnant/year. If you have a hard time remembering daily meds, ask your doctor about long-acting reversible contraception(larc)--iuds or an implant under the skin-easy, very effective, lasts 3-10 yrs.
