A member asked:

Why does gerd cause breathing problems?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 possible theories: One is that the acid reflux runs up the esophagus and then back down into the windpipes. The other is that since the esophagus and lung share vagal nervous system, the acid could indirectly stimulate breathing problems.
