Low protein diet: Although the most expensive nih clinical trial ever, mdrd, demonstrated no benefit from a low protein diet, most nephrologist recommend it as long as malnutrition is not present. Also a low sodium diet theoretically should be of benefit. If you are overweight weight loss is of benefit. There are no specific foods good for kidneys unfortunately. Consider a diet based on whole foods.
