A member asked:

Can you take viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) and prozac together?

Not recommended: Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) and Prozac are 2 antidepressants in the same chemical family, the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (ssri). There is usually no good, clinical indication for prescribing these 2 members of the same family - as opposed to prescribing 2 medications which are in different families.

Viibryd/Prozac: No. I would not recommend two SSRIs taken together.

Please don't: Taking two medications that are both in the SSRI class can increase risk of developing Serotonin Syndrome.
