Bland diet: Eat foods that have few additives and spices. Fruits, vegetables and grains are good sources of these. Avoid spicey, citrus and dense foods as they can further irritate the lining of the stomach.

Clear liquid & bland: For the first day to 2 days eat thin soups, no dairy. Then increase to bread, crackers, rice, pasta for the next 2 days. Check back with your doctor to make the next plan in your healthcare. Good luck.

Avoid acidity: During a gastritis flare, your stomach is producing too much acid. Using otc zantac, (ranitidine) etc can help but avoid foods that are acidic such as tomatos, onions, citrus (orange juice, lemons), spicy foods and caffeinated drinks since they are also very acidic. Eat smaller amounts, stay up right after eating, and try deeper green vegetables since they are more alkalanizing.

Gastritis: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip often to prevent dehydration. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy & high fat foods. Rest.
