Not an STD: If you were protected, you're probably fine, and what you describe sounds more like a varicocele or epididymitis than a sexually transmitted disease. No reason you should be uncomfortable; you physician can help.

See MD: While protected sex is the best way to prevent stds, there are still some that can be transmitted and sometimes "user error" allows transmission of an std. That said, it is unlikely you got one assuming everything was done using protection. What does concern me is pain & swelling for 8 months - see your doctor! while it may not be an std, something isn't right and needs to be checked out!
