Depends on the test.: If you are checking fasting blood glucose, you should ideally fast for 6 hours. If you are getting a glycated hemoglobin (hba1c), fasting or non-fasting state DES not affect the test since the test is a indirect calculation of the average blood glucose for 90 days by measuring carbohydrate molecules attached to the red blood cells, which cycles within our body on the average of every 90 days.
