It's the same: The average pregnancy lasts 280 days from the last menstrual period. Assuming that you released an egg on day 14 and got pregnant, your pregnancy would last 266 day. So every one speaks the same language, we say that a pregnancy lasts 280 days or 40 weeks from the last menstrual period. We always count from the last menstrual period.
