NO: Really sharp shooting pains is not normal 10 days after surgery. You need to call your surgeon and alert them to your symptoms. If severe enough, go to emergency room. Good luck.

Could be spasm: It can be. If the pain is related to food intake, it may be the esophagus trying to push done the food. It could also be esophageal spasm. Could also be irritation of the lining surrounding the lungs. Having said that, you really need to follow up with your surgeon. They'll take your call day or night.
