I've been sick lately with a runny nose. when i blow it, black stuff comes out. i don't work near soot, i don't own a fireplace, or smoke. what is it?

Blood?: Dark debris from the nose is likely environmental (smoke, soot, etc), or might be dried blood. Is it unilateral or bilateral? Have you recently had a sinus infection? If it persists, you should have a thorough ENT examination, to rule out a more serious etiology.
