More testing needed: You need a vaginal and cervical culture to determine the cause of the discharge which may be due to an infection.. Sometimes, the doctor can look at a sample of the discharge under the microscope to help make a diagnosis. Also, your partner may need to be treated to avoid your getting re-infected if it is an infection.
