Disk herniation: Sounds like sis may have a herniated disk to the lower thoracic or upper lumbar spine. Radiating pains to the ribs, with corresponding back and leg radiations are typical for upper back disk herniations. Also, regarding rib pain, she can have a inflammation of the cartilage of the ribs, or so called costrochondritis. If she does not improve, have her evaluated by a doctor.
