Probable cause of elevated wbc in diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. James Chu answered

Acute or chronic? : People with diabetes, especially those with high glucoses that are not controlled, are more probe to all types of infections. Any acute (rapid-onset) infection such as urine, throat, skin, lung infections, can cause high white blood counts. In addition, people with type 2 diabetes and Insulin resistance have high levels of chronic inflammatory blood markers, including hscrp, wbc, ferritin, etc.
