Electrolytes?: Cramping can be part of the healing process, but if they are persisting for a long time, if may be worth visiting your surgeon and looking for other causes. If you are dehydrated, electrolyte imbalances can make the cramps worse.

How long: How long ago was the surgery. Muscle spasm usually resolves within 3-4 weeks and can be improved with valium.

Discuss with your: Surgeon. There are other causes of cramps other than a clot: vitamin deficiency is one. Possible side effect of medications, but i don;t know if you are taking any. Your doc would want to know of this symptom though so call them.
