More likely to burn: Bleach is touted as a home remedy for many things--this is not a location where you should apply strong chemicals in an attempt to save a couple of $, you will reget the chemical burn. Try lotrimin (clotrimazole) af (over counter), keep area dry (but don't get arrested), and may take 7-10 days to see significant change. Continue treatment at least 3 days after you think is entirely gone.

Probably not: You're referring to the "chlorine" put in swimming pools, correct? A good topical antifungal such as tolnaftate is much less likely to injure you along with the fungi.
