Abnormal Spotting: There are many vp causes of menstrual spotting, including, but not limited to pregnancy. A good home pregnancy testing kit can detect a pregnancy as soon as the time of the first "missed period, " so you can always test yourself. Even if negative, you should probably make an appointment with your gynecologist if your period doesn't return to normal.

May be implantation: You may do a home pregnancy test, if you miss your period. It would be prudent to wait 4-5 days after missed period, use first morning urine and follow the instructions carefully.
