See below: Most cases of bronchitis are caused by respiratory viruses that do not respond to antibiotics. Bacterial bronchitis is usually caused by strep. Pneumoniae, hemophilus sp. And moraxella sp. These are usually treated with zithromax, ceftin, (cefuroxime) vantin, Augmentin or levoquin.
