Is it true that women with some metal allergies (cheap jewelry causes infection/inflammation) cannot use essure?

Unknown: You would need to find out what metal components are in the essure device and then have an allergist or dermatologist perform patch testing to the components in the essure device prior to having it placed to see if you are allergic.

Nickel allergy: If your skin reacts to levi jeans buttons, you likely are allergic to nickel. Jewelry is less reliable for which metal allergy you have. You may want to avoid essure if you have nickel allergy. Ask your doctor before using it.

Low risk: Essure birth control inserts contain a very small amount of nickel-titanium and stainless steel alloy. The amount of nickel released every day by essure insert is very small—less than one-thousandth of the amount in the average daily food intake. The incidence of adverse events suspected to be related to nickel in patients with essure micro-inserts is extremely small (0.01%) in a 2011 report.
