Mucus cold byproduct: Not necessarily. It could be the by product of your cold.

Not necessaraly: The green in mucous is the byproduct of various germs eating the protein & sugar in your mucous.It is a common finding in mucoid material from the walls of the back of your throat , if you are draining some of this & coughing it out it may mean nothing.If it comes from deep in your lungs, it more likely means a bronchitis but could occur in a pneumonia. You would have other sx also.
