What is the difference between a gastroenterologist and a colorectal surgeon?

Dr. Allen Kamrava answered

Specializes in Colon and Rectal Surgery

Treatments: Gi docs specialize in diagnosing and medical treatments for GI ailments. Colorectal surgeons get involved when a surgical treatment is necessary. There are certain things that patients will report directly to a crs rather than a GI specialist.
