No: Herpes & HIV are two different viral infections. Passing one does not mean you will pass the other. However, there is definitely a real possibility of passing both. To reduce the risk, the HIV + person should be on anti-retrovirals & protease inhibitors. The person should also always watch for herpes lesions & be on treatment if any occur. They should also practice safe sex esp with lesions.
