Allergy or trauma: There are several conditions that can cause a red rash on the palate. It could be an allergic reaction to a new medication or a change in toothpaste. It can also be caused by trauma during oral sex. My pathology instructor called it a "suckaloma". Also , if you smoke or use chewing tobacco you may get a condition called nicotine stomititis. The only sure way is to do a biopsy if it persists.

Many things: It could be caused by an allergy, irritation, smoking, and a host of medical conditions. It would be wise to see a dentist for a complete medical and dental history in conjunction with a thorough dental exam to determine the cause of your rash.
